To take on this demanding expedition, we strongly recommend excellent physical condition, proper altitude acclimatization, and reliable mountaineering gear (thermal clothing, proper footwear, etc.). The weather at high altitude can be unpredictable, so preparation is key.

Tour Itinerary
Day 1 – Carrel Refuge & Preparation for the Ascent
Includes: Lunch and Dinner
11:30 AM: Meeting in Riobamba and complete inspection of high-altitude technical equipment.
Departure by vehicle to the Chimborazo Wildlife Reserve.
Lunch stop en route.
Arrival at Carrel Refuge (4,850 m), starting point of the ascent.
Short acclimatization hike and rest at the refuge. Technical briefing with the mountain guide about the route, conditions, and safety.
Early dinner and rest.
10:30 PM: Start of the night ascent to the summit.
Day 2 – Ascent to the summit of Chimborazo and return
Includes: Snack and Breakfast
Ascent over mixed terrain: rock, snow, and ice, with inclines between 30° and 45°.
Approximately 7 hours of climbing to Veintimilla Summit (6,227 m).
1 additional hour to reach Whymper Summit (6,263 m), the highest point in Ecuador and the closest point to the Sun from the Earth's center.
Enjoy an unforgettable panoramic view (weather permitting).
3-4 hour descent back to Refugio Carrel.
Breakfast at the refuge and transfer back to Riobamba.
Essential requirements to know before booking this activity:
Minimum age is 16 years.
Prior acclimatization is required.
Previous glacier experience is necessary.
Excellent physical condition is required.
